17 October 1987, MH Bomb Blast, Suva

17/10/1987 is a day my life changed.  I still remember the ballooning of grey smoke that mushroomed from the explosion.  The deafening roar of the package that someone had placed beside us at the Bus Stop as we waited for bus to take us home after shopping.  The person standing next to me detonating the device.  The fear that I couldn't see my mum,  pain I felt that I should have asked her to come with me to buy a cream bun.

What I will remember for ever is the blood,  the poor old man sitting between my mum and the package,  stomach cut like ribbons, and my mum still alive.  I remember her scars that proved that the package was intent to kill and cause as much havoc and pain that to Fijians.

A USP Assignment pieced together by Moses Driver lead us to the bringers of pain,  and they were never charged for the crime because they were students. ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moses_Driver )

The old saying is true,  what doesn't kill you will make you stronger.

These are the people responsible:

Police report reveal Nik Naidu a bomb maker with Aiyaz Khaiyum

Controversial Nik Naidu
The controversy surrounding Nik Naidu’s verbal assault against Ului Mara’s visit to New Zealand has taken a sudden twist today.
Former senior police officers who have fled Fiji, whom we can’t name just yet, say Nik Naidu was one of the bomb makers implicated along side Aiyaz Khaiyum after the 1987 coup.
These officers who were part of the investigation team back then say that Nik Naidu, the spokesman for Coalition for Democracy in Fiji based in Auckland, have a terrorist-like history recorded in the Fiji Police files and must not be taken seriously.
They say the bomb-maker ring leader Aiyaz Khaiyum was hunted down by the Fiji Police Forces but he fled Fiji via  a Sydney bound plane deserting his bomb-making students like Nik who were later imprisoned.
The ex-Fiji Police Force senior officers also said that it’s rather ironic that Nik is arguing that Ului Mara shouldn’t be given a visa to NZ because of his involvement in civilian torture since the coup of 2006, while Nic harbors his own terrorist-like behavior to bomb people and properties back in 1987.
They say Nik should come out clean with his bomb-making history with Aiyaz Khaiyum to redeem himself like what Ului Mara is doing now.
